baby love notes…

moments and memories in austin's life…

21 and 22 months

21 months

hi austin,

so much is happen in your little brain, it amazes me everyday. you are talking all the time now. mommy and daddy don’t understand what you’re saying most of the time but we are slowly picking up your messages. some of your favorite words are “elmo” “bus” “puffs” “applesauce” “waffle” on top of mama and baba. hmm.. notice most of them are food related. you also recognize your grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousin, caleb.

in february we went to taiwan and visited all of daddy’s relatives, including your great-grandmother. the plane ride there was a little tough but you were one sleepy baby on the plane-ride back, so you slept the whole way.

after we came back from taiwan, you transitioned from a crib to a big boy bed. you were getting too big for your crib, your arms keep getting stuck between the rails or we hear you hitting your head against the crib at night.

22 months

you have a huge personality: very friendly and out-going. we were at a uncle’s house for a birthday party and there were lots of new faces but after a few minutes standing behind mommy, you were playing with all the new aunties and uncles. you loved them so much, you didn’t want to leave. also, you are very opinionated, meaning you know you have a voice in things… including your outfits in the morning. you also tell me what you want to eat for breakfast, most of the time its waffles. your favorite toys right now are elmo and trains.

USC Pacific Asia Museum

DSC04654

hi austin,

we are so lucky to have so many fun things to do around us. this past weekend, the usc pacific asia museum held a lunar new year festival. its a full day event of performances, demonstrations, crafts, gallery exhibits, and food trucks. one of your favorite things was the koi pond, you would have probably stayed there the whole time if we let you. you really enjoyed the traditional dance and taekwondo performances. we had some ice cream and did some coloring. i have to say you were pretty worn out afterwards. we’re excited to attend this event again next year and hope to teach you more about our asian culture.

much love

hi austin,

happy 2014! we are excited to see what you’ll bring to us this year. you’ve been such a blessing and joy, daddy and mommy seriously wouldn’t know what to do without you. you make us smile with everything you do, even when its bad and we should have our mean faces on. you surprise us everyday with your athletic abilities, developing intelligence, and growing independency.

you can jump inches off the ground. you can identify all sorts of body part and animals, and you just want to do everything without our help (i.e. opening doors, pushing shopping carts, or eating with a spoon/fork). your biggest accomplishment lately is drinking from a cup. yes, no more sippy cups, we are packing those away.

later this month you will be traveling abroad for the second time. we are going to taiwan again for chinese new year. you’ll see all of daddy’s uncles, aunts, cousins, and grandma (your great grandmother). we’re not looking forward to the flight but we are excited to see how you’ll like taiwan this time since you’re a little older and more aware now.

merry christmas to all

hi austin,

this is our first christmas here in los angeles. we had such a wonderful day. the morning started out with lots of gifts and cinnamon rolls. you got so many gifts, mommy and daddy had to let you start opening some of them a few days ago so that you weren’t overwhelmed today. i have to say that was a good idea because you were starting to lose interest by time you were opening your last few gifts. afterwards, we went for a 3 mile walk around the rose bowl since the weather was absolutely perfect. we ended our day with the cheng family, who were nice enough to invite us over to spend christmas with them and eat lots of chinese food. you can now recognize santa and say “ho ho ho”. can’t wait to see how we’ll celebrate next year.

18 and 19 months

18 months

hi austin,

i can’t believe how quickly you are growing and developing. you are 19 months now and weighing in at 28 lbs and 3 oz (75%) while measuring 34.5 inches (90%). you are still quite tall but starting to slim down. that’s probably because you are always moving around, climbing on or jumping off of things. you are obsessed with fire trucks, trains, buses, cars, balls, music and dancing. you can identify more than 20 different animals through your animal flashcards. you can also identify about a dozen different body parts, such as mouth, head, toes, etc. you can now say more than 2 dozen words, the ones we hear most often are mama, baba, ball, bus, no, yes, dance, up, and help. you love giving hugs and kisses to everyone around you, even your stuffed animals.

recently, grandma from new york came to visit us for two week. we had so much fun with her. we spent a lot of time at the park and Kidspace. you loved everything she cooked for you. she really spoiled you rotten when she was here.

next month, we’ll be going to taiwan with your grandparents from alabama. your second time flying overseas. we are so excited to see what you have in store for us.
